To optimize my resume, I used a series of prompts that asked the AI to create two new professional versions of my original resume—one targeted toward a Director of Operations role and another for a Marketing Director role. I specifically requested that the resumes be rewritten in a more professional tone, reorganized into clear sections, and formatted in a clean, industry-standard structure. I also asked for polished summaries, stronger action verbs, and skill-based sections aligned with each job target.
Compared to my original resume—which was written in a simple, informal format—the AI-generated versions are more structured, detailed, and tailored. They include professional headings, expanded descriptions of my experience, clarified competencies, and job-specific language that better reflects leadership, operational strengths, and marketing strategy.
Through this process, I learned how important prompt engineering is for generating useful results. Clear, specific prompts produce stronger outputs, and adding detail (such as the tone, style, target role, and desired structure) helps the AI create more accurate and relevant documents. I also learned that prompting is an iterative process—refining instructions leads to better, more polished final results.
